After hearing @Jh4db536 ’s BK20, and being super impressed by it, I picked up a set of sigma drivers for my BK16 that I got from @purr1n couple months ago and holy smokes what a difference it made! Before with the FE166EN, it was a bit shouty and rolled off in both extreme ends so i needed to run it with a set of super tweeters and sub to sound decent.

the sigma drivers sound pretty extended and lively without the need for tweeters and I’m still considering whether I should run a sub as well. Currently I am immensely enjoying the way these sound on their own. Wish I got to hear these with my elekit but I guess I’ll just have to wait for my next amp. Nice advice. I noticed the phase plugs take away the tight impact sound and made it sound laid back. The drivers lost some Inter detail and liveness. The markers is a funny comment. I know another speaker manufacturer owner who says it’s hog wash and you can’t tell a difference. I believe you built the speaker around the box. You tune it to the sound and likes of your own taste. We’ll so here’s my question? What do you think of your speakers now in that horn box? I heard the BK 16 kit from Madisound years ago. It had a very nice sound bass was lacking but, everything sounded nice. You did super nice Job on your boxes and I enjoy your approach on measuring your speakers. Thanks for posting your advice and insightful experience. Cheers Jeff

Thanks. They ended up going to a good home. However, I miss them, especially with good low power amplification. Will probably build another pair. Maybe a Frugalhorn based on the smaller Fostex driver with a sub.

I’ve got a crapload of drivers, bro. Just say the word and I’ll ship some out. It’ll clear my storage room a bit, too.
