I've had loads of different Vans shoes (Old Skool, Slip-On, Sk8 Hi etc.) in the last ten years, but they aren't really made for long walks. The thin soles just aren't comfy enough. My Nike Roshe Ones are good but pretty beat up at this point - so I went looking for something good...

Damn it. I ended up buying two pairs of Adidas: Ultra Boost and NMD_R1...

I first got the UB (125€ on sale on a trip to Lisbon last week), which are probably the comfiest shoes I ever had, damn that mid-sole is soft. Luckily I got try both of these before bying. I found the NMD to need a smaller size for my wide-ish feet. That toe area is very large on them. I'm finding myself loving the looks of the NMD more, but the UB is clearly a better quality shoe overall: Primeknit upper, nicely padded ankle area and that fatter mid-sole make it stand out. Also the NMD has some glue sticking out of the seams and no insole. UB's grey color was a bit "meh" initially, but I'm starting to really like it.

Spent about 200€ combined, can't be happier with them. That time consuming and boring process of trying out different sizes really paid off this time.

All in all, NMD_R1 are more style-centric in design, though quite comfy too overall. They just can't compete with that "melted asphalt" feel on the UB. The NMD feels more like a "normal" sneaker. Walked to work and back (13km) yesterday in the UB's with some rocking tunes blaring from my Sines, good times!

I love the UB triple grey. Goes with anything you wear and insane comfort.

I'm a huge fan of the UBs, but this one's my favorite

This is the Game of Thrones LTD: House Stark version. I've been wanting a non-white sole UB because they get dirtied so fast. This one was just the one I was looking for :headbang:

How are the toeboxes on the Ultra Boosts? I have very thick feet with wide toes (but normal arch). Most of the time I just wear wides to get the room I need for my toes, but some shoes work in normal (Saucony Peregrine, Nike Winflo).

They're quite flexible and comfy, but YMMV. I did notice that the uncaged versions have more flexibility and width so if you have wide toes/feet, you might want to check on those. It feel like wearing socks with soles

I'm now a little obsessed with UB shoes. I've been watching for sales and deals on ebay. I've snagged two pair. I got a new pair of the black with red stripped Chinese New Year on the old ebay for a song. There is something about the comfort of UB that is completely addictive. They make me not want to wear any other shoes, ever.

I'm not a total UB head, but like the boost tech to pick up a different boost shoe (Pureboost Go) and a boost competitor (New Balance Fresh Foam Cruz). And I did pick up a UB earlier this year for full price because I was curious. The other two for about $103 combined.

I think the UB toe area is not as roomy as my NMD R1, but the soft knit material helps a bunch.

My UB Clima and Uncaged have a quite elastic upper and I can go true to size with my wide feet. Thicker than the NMD R1.

The standard UB 19 and Game of Thrones I had to go half size up.

Would recommend trying a pair at a local store to see how it feels if you do have wider foot. Noticed lately that quite a few UB are discounted at stores. Local Shoepalace had some blowing out at $50 for a few models but seen UB19 for $50 off or older styles for $100.

I like the pureboost series better aesthetically. The adidas website has a lot of their shoes on sale right now if anyone is thinking about picking some up.

If you're all into the UB, the Adidas site got the UB 19 on sale for $88.20 using their SAVE30 code thru 9/3. They were a little tight for me when I tried them on but I think eventually they would have loosend up. I'd give them a shot, but I'm shoed out for now after getting the Reebok Floatride Run for half off a few days ago.

    Daaayum nice.

Been a little out of the sneaker game in recent times since I been WFH and haven't really been interested in drops since lockdown last year.

My work is pretty tough on shoes. Sometimes I have to race through Amsterdam (every kind of weather) and then jump back on the floor to run tables. Regular sneakers are not tough enough. Old-school stitched leather basketball shoes are either out of fashion or too damn expensive because Jordans keep riding the hype train (and other brands follow "and Reebok made better basketball shoes but they are almost gone"). So what remains? I bought my Palladium water-proof boots-that-walk-like sneakers on a gamble. It was a good gamble. If you want more quality get army boots or tailor-made.

P.S. The rubber nose is a big plus. In daily life that ugly looking thing has kept my feet very happy.

P.P.S. The tough water-proof Palladiums are really durable. They survive more than my Adidas Samba's. Adidas Samba's, the old-school Adidas sneakers make Nike Airs look like cheap slippers only good for days walk. Sorry, I cannot stand hipster idiots who work on their "look-at-my-Nikes" but will lick their shoes for a single spot (because spotless equals status, f'ing whimps).

Bought these when it came out. One of the best silhouette that adidas had came up with in recent years. Not sure why they decided to f**k with the v2. Would love to get one in OG colorway(black with white stripes). Not comfortable though.
