    An update from AMD, they have thrown down the proverbial gauntlet with the demo of FSR working on a GTX1060. They have said that while FSR works on nVidia cards, it's entirely up to nVidia to tweak their drivers for better performance and possibly better PQ with FSR. Now, the million dollar question is, do you think nVidia would do so?

    Knowing their walled garden ecosystem philosophy and their push for RTX card sale, I seriously doubt it. But hey, nVidia is free to surprise the heck outta me by actually optimizing their drivers to fully leverage FSR for their older cards.

    Unlikely but who knows? I wouldn't bet my money on it though.

    Lol, yeah, that's where the smart money's not gonna be :D...eh, I mean the smart money's on nVidia NOT doing anything, they may even impede the progress of FSR.|{

    Just in case anyone's interested in FSR (which works on AMD cards from RX 470/570 and up, as well as nVidia GTX 1000 series GPUs) here're some reviews/previews
    TPU written coverage of FSR:

    Guru3d preview of FSR:

    And for you lazy bums who don't wanna read, a video review by Hardware unboxed

    I believe Hardware Unboxed even ran Godfall on a GTX 1660 and got a decent uplift in performance, AMD is helping to uplift performance (in games supporting FSR) for GTX 1000 series owners when nVidia can't be bothered, all their efforts is in RT and DLSS for their RTX cards.

    AMD has released Adrenalin 21.6.2 with Doom Eternal VULKAN RT support for RX 6000 series cards. I tried it at 3840x1080, Ultimate Nightmare settings + RT and it was silky smooth at >120fps to >200fps. I wish all RT enabled games were as well optimized, gonna replay the game (now shinier with more reflective surfaces and more accurate shadows I guess) since I'd dropped the game somewhere in the middle (my best estimate). Will be waiting for RE Village to go on sale (with RT enabled) so I can get to try it on my main rig.

    Hopefully 21.6.2 sorts that infuriating bug I get where I keep getting a "Hardware settings have changed" error message upon booting. It's ignorable and remediable by disabling AMD External Events Utility but nah, I went back to 21.5.2 just because I'm dumb that way. I don't play any games that come even close to needing FSR even on an RX 5600 XT BE but something something driver update nervosa.

    As an aside I recently picked up an older indie game called Sylvio that's about electronic voice phenomena. Will be playing over the weekend but figured that the audio-centric aspect of it looked fun.

    Picked up RE Village, it looks pretty damn good with max setting + RT at 3840x1080, not exactly what I'd expected, but it's scary and pretty fun to play. Also picked up Hellbound (sorta reminds me of the old Doom but with modern graphics) because it was on sale at Steam and was pretty cheap. Pretty fun, I'm enjoying it because I love these old school shooters where all you need to worry about is ammo, shield and health. None of those fancy jumping challenges like Doom Eternal (I hate those with a passion!)

    The closer we are to Diablo 2 Resurrescted, the more and more I want to play the original. It's a struggle though, that stuff's addictive. I'd rather not :D

    While I did pre-order an OLED Switch, I did purchased a Switch Lite for the side. Got back on Mario Kart and the Online App for mobile phones. If you wanna crap talk on Mario Kart and talk via the phone app, we can "hang out."

    Once doom eternal clicks it's like nothing else. They absolutely perfected the loop of that game. I'm a dirty casual with little kids who plays games on easy and even I cranked that game all the way in difficulty because of how perfect the combat was.

    Anybody besides me preorder a Playdate? The smaller scale of these games is really appealing. And the Teenage Engineering-designed hardware looks great. If you haven’t seen it:

    I did for sure. Probably going to play it more than anything else I own given the experiences seem compelling to play in little spurts.

    Haven’t seen it in person so can’t say for sure. I like the implications for battery life of not having a backlight.

    I'm doing my billionth ds3 run in celebration, almost finished with the DLC's now as a pure INT sorcerer build, it's been challenging but fun.
