Little Red Corvette: Aperol, gin, sugar, lemon, soda. Refreshing, effervescent, delicious.

The official whiskey of "I have $40 left and I don't get paid for a week and a half".

    Pretty solid though.

Anyone know of a place that will ship within or to the US for bourbon sampling? Doesn't even have to be anything crazy or rare / super limited, just like stuff you can find at Total Wine, Bev Mo, or a specialty place like K&L.

I like bourbon and all but too often I feel like the bottle isn't worth the price to me or it's good objectively speaking but isn't per my preference.

as far as I know bars are probably your best option. I found a place in Laguna Beach where I could get a glass of Pappy Van Winkle for $75. Not cheap, but for the price of bottles these days it's somewhat reasonable.

Do you remember the name of the bar or what street it was close to? If not do you recall it being in north or south laguna, etc.

OK, so 2 months ago, my buddy Nick sends me an email. It was for Bruichladdichs festival. They had a limited number of tasting samples for their masterclass. Historically they are sold out like lightning so this year they went raffle. Sign up, place an order with CC info. If you are selected, it gets charged and shipped, otherwise no joy.

Nick didn't get selected, but I did. He couldn't make the 6 hour zoom Masterclass. I had it going, but decided not to open any of the samples, since he couldn't make it. They were going to post it anyways. But it got me buying any Bruichladdich I could find. I already had some Laphroaig (Lore/Quarter Cask) Ardbeg (Wee Beastie/Uigeadail) a Bunnahabain 12 and a Lagavulin 16. Oh and fair warning, the 10 year Islay Gold from Total Wine sucks ass and is way too fuselly and hot. I will give it to some bum on a street corner when I remember.

Anyways I also picked up a Kilchoman sherry barrel finish Loch Gorm. Very tasty. That got me looking into Sherry and multiple barrel aged scotches. I have opened a Glenfarclas 10, and a Glendronach Original 12, but since I can't remember the flavors I won't go into describing them. One of them actually had some chocolate notes in the finish. Fantastic.

Last night we had a bit of Glenlivet 12 Caribbean Reserve. Rum barrel aged. By far the sweetest finish I have had on a scotch. Some nice tropical fruit flavors.

Killed the rest of this. On reflection its a nice sipper. The acai berries give it a bubble gum note, as I think I said before. It works well in a martini, or straight. I don't like it in a G&T because I think if deviates off the standard flavor profile of the drink which I look for.

I am working on emptying some bottles, so I can clear out stuff I don't like for stuff I like better.

Speaking of agave I’ve been drinking a really great bang for buck tequila - Painted Donkey Añejo. Highly recommend at ~$30.

Equal parts Cynar 70, Campari, Carpano Antica. I don't usually garnish it, but Mrs. Fastfwd made this one.

Orange oil from the zest really accentuates the Campari. Not sure whether that's better or worse. Looks pretty, though.
