Thanks. That rubber was so tough I thought it was a joke. Removing that rubber strap from the watch was a nightmare. Getting to the springbars was almost impossible.

I will not buy a Seiko with that rubber strap, period. The least you can offer are drilled lugs with those things but if even that is too much f**k no. Yeah this really annoyed me. Seiko watches have to really be awesome or I don't want to spend money on them.

That new fieldwatch is almost awesome...

I bought a tiny one for my wife on one of my trips to London, about GBP100. She didn't realise what "eco-drive" meant and took it to the watch shop when it stopped. They said, "We can replace the battery. They are rather expensive, and if you don't wear it much you probably just need to give it some sunshine." Problem solved.

Even indoor lighting seems to do the trick. I've had mine since 2009 and despite long Alberta winters during which my wrist was never exposed outside, it's never stopped. Much better than the old-school solar-powered watches / calculators / etc.

I have one of the very first eco-drives from circa 1995. It doesn't hold a charge too well anymore, but runs fine with regular wear.

Same old, same old as with headphones prices do not necessarily reflect value but more what potential customers are willing to pay.

Or get a shiny Casio F91W and call it a day. Otherwise the shiny Casio 1200 AE always works. I mean its nick-name "Casio Royale" is quite apt. I went for the black 1200 AE and it is unexpectedly tough.

Bought a banged up used TH Professional 200M which I intend to use as my daily driver, I'll have it buffed up and change the battery. I'll be using this watch for when I go overseas as well....got it cheap due to its condition, and the missing lume on the 12 o'clock mark on the bezel. I bought it a few days back...liking the blue dial.

My Seiko Prospex Alpinist Ginza Limited Edition arrived earlier on, brand new and it's a lovely watch, I fell in love with the dial so I had to get it.

At least the front is still nice

That's why the $70k solid gold one would have been better...

“I’m so rich, I spent $70k on a G-Shock” is a special kind of flex

I pretend that my solid-gold watch bracelet is cheap plating.

The ultimate flex is a 70k solid gold g shock with plastic plating to look like a regular $20 g shock

Not sure how 1 to 1 the cases are, but you could try this seller for a replacement band. https://g-refit.aliexpress.com/store/5637340
The stainless steel conversion kit I got was excellent quality. I am tinkering with the idea of swapping to a titanium body and band.

Sent my Tag Heuer for some polishing work, plus battery change a few days back, I'd just received it and I must say they did a righteous job with the polishing....

Just got a Mr Jones Mare Adesso.
Maybe not the most practical time teller but sure is cool. (Automatic with jump hour in sun, whale points to minutes)

Honestly after a bit I have gotten used to reading it. Hour is easy with the hour sponsor, and minutes are easy enough to estimate based on the position of the whale. Not for getting exact times though
