SOLD - DNA Stratus + Tubes

For sale is my Stratus.

Ordered new from Mr. North 6/2020, received 1/2021. Stock tubes: Two Psvane 2A3, one Winged -C- 5U4G, one Voshkod 6N1-P.

Additional tubes: Two LinLai E-2A3, two RCA 2A3 NOS from Brent Jessee. One Mazda and RCA 6BQ7A, LinLai 6N1-P and LinLai 5U4G.

Usage: I primarily used this only for dedicated sit down and listen sessions of 1+ hours. No computer browsing / PC game playing with tunes in the background, or crap like that. I didn't want to burn tube time on the trivial. This is something I have had increasingly less and less time for, unfortunately. I haven't had the Stratus on since November of last year. So, I can't justify keeping it just for it's good looks. If I had to guess, I'd say it has less than 600 hours on it.

This should be a V3 based on manufacture date, right?

 

I was thinking this & decided not to write it down: but my thought was: We're dicking around with not the May DAC loaner and this is not on the SBAF tour?

Man it's hard to decipher what you're trying to say but I think you're saying SBAF needs a Stratus loaner. That would be super dope but you can't buy a V3 anymore and it makes no sense to have an Unobtanium loaner.

Yeah, but it’s still a way for people to hear a good example of DNA flavor. I still think there’s value in that.

 

Is there a description here at SBAF or elsewhere of the various Stratus (and other DNA amps for that matter) versioning? Or...is it just tangentially burried in the DNA owners thread?

 

If I am not wrong V4 which is the latest iteration was a significant jump in price due to the new audio note OPTs. The revisions prior to that were relatively minor I think.

 

Version 2 involved replacing the big power transformer on top with the new version which has different secondary winding voltages, drilling the chassis and installing 2 new chokes, and replacing the 2A3 filament boards with the new versions.

Version 3 involved replacing the 6N1P and 2A3 cathode bypass capacitors, replacing the 2A3 sockets, rerouting the audio and balanced output groundings, replacing the DC heater circuitry for the 6N1P, changing the input filter capacitor in the high voltage supply, and 2A3 grid stopper resistors.
