    Ok got further info from Topping on D70s..

    ≈==========

    Hi,

    Yes, but the pin15&pin16 definitions of these two devices conflict.

    Best Regards

    =============
    so due to pin 15 and 16 Mercury isn't compatible with D70s... :( he decided I wasn't able to get it working..

    Might have to look for new DAC but PS is out of my budget and was wondering if anyone can recommend me any dac around 1k that is compatible with Mercury using I2S?

    Thanks.

    I don't know when Michael will start selling the new designed DAC/AMP that can be used with Mercury. But you might consider and wait for Pi 2 Design - Mercury DAC-AMP :)

    Sorry, Michael but if you have time could you kindly see if you can still play with DAC mode set to Synchronous mode? (Menu 8).

    Whichever OS i guess.... Topping support was asking what DAC mode was set on DX7 pro. Whether Volumio or Ropieee it would be same for I2S .. Thanks and sorry for the trboule..

    Update on Mercury 7/5/2022

    We have sorted out the AES issue and restarted shipping as of late last week. We have 50 more orders to ship and will be done over the next two weeks. The metal enclosure issue still remains, so a new version of Mercury is underway to fit into the new case. The new case is about the same width and depth, but 12mm (~1/2") taller.

    Michael - can you please provide more info on the AES issue and its solution?
    Does that issue affect beta units, and if so - can the beta units be "fixed"?

    Thanks!

    Beta units had the correct driver chip. The production units were built with the slower parts in error from the assembly house.

    Units shipped from last week have the correct parts now.

    First impression Bravo, Mercury is so much better on i2s vs usb c bug head monority clean for the last 5 years which is noisy in comparison. As analog as it can ever be without the digitalish sound. Dsd works off the bat, though not native but sounds spectacular. Decent 100$ aliexpress 12v linear supply. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOdKsjU

    Musician Draco r2r works off the shelf. Headphone singxer sa1 killer sound via ora graphene headphones also Preamp towards Orchard GAN amp starkrimson ultra with Elac unified reference.

    Got my Mercury back today and can confirm it is playing 192kHz via AES connection :)

    As for my issue with I2S, while I was waiting for the unit to come back, purchased a HDMI connector that you can make your own like below (https://www.amazon.com.au/SinLoon-S...7&sprefix=hdmi+connector+scre,aps,243&sr=8-35) just in case it still didn't work.

    Anyway, that purple cable is the pin 16, ie. Mute on Topping I2S pinout. Once I disconnected it, everything seems to work without any issue.

    All I have to do now is to enjoy my Mercury!!!!

    that is great news.

    FYI, Mercury V2 will allow polarity setting on each pair, as well as pulling high or low on pins 15 and 16. This will just make it a lot more adaptable to DAC‘s that have unusual usage on those pins.

    Any other changes, or just adaptable HDMI pinout?
    When can we expect to be able to buy one?

    In addition to the adjustable I2S over HDMI, we have parallel I2S via RJ45.

    Time frame is September/October because that’s when we get the next delivery of compute modules from raspberry pi. Plan is to build at least 200 units, possibly more. We are getting 270 compute modules, but I need to reserve 40 to 50 for custom projects that we have ongoing.
