APB: Dematted and SW51+ Personal Loaner

Dematted has a friend named Aman on a different forum. Aman should have a phone number for Dematted. I'll see if I can get in touch with Aman and ask him to get in touch with Dematted. I'll let y'all know if I get anywhere.

We should be able to track down his address from whoever had the loaner before him. Could always send him a letter saying "Hey, please return the f'ing loaner and get in touch" or something.

 

I have two SW51+ in lab inventory and could let go of one to replace the one you give to @Cooper12 if you wish.

Publicly publishing personal information that was provided privately is doxxing -- it's not ethical and it is potentially legally problematic. There's clearly a lot of distress, and the situation looks bad but the end doesn't justify the means.

 

I got almost everything from Google. In a private conversation a few weeks ago another member let me know of some non-intentional issue that Dematted has been dealing with that could be responsible for this. I'm just trying to help people get their shit back. No threats, no meaniehead, etc. My text to him said: "Yo Dematted it's Erroneous! Hey the SBAF folks are asking about the SW51 loaner you have. You ok?"

 

Yeah keep the personal info private with admins guys. I have his info as well and if needed would give to the bosses only !

 

I sent the info to Shotgunshane and Rhythmdevils. Any other mods who want it too, PM me.

 

I hate to be that guy...but it isn't the first time Dematted had issues with shipping stuff.

• Shipping a loaner via USPS when it was FedEx/UPS only a few years back
• The RU6 debacle
• Now this

Me and others don't trust shipping personal items to him. Our choice of course, but we are being a little weary doing personal loaners after these incidents.

 

Doxxing is illegal in CA and can get you arrested here. Never post anyone's personal info publicly without permission.

 

I also have a SW51+ I would donate to the generous user that lent theirs. Sorry to hear this.

 

Thank you for all the kind gestures everyone. This community is very special. A few things:

1. @dematted will not be allowed to participate in the loaner program going forward if/when he resurfaces
2. He also may be banned from the F/S forums due to some other things I have heard about poorly packaged packages and lack of contact after a sale combined with this incident. I also am not sure that the F/S forums are healthy for him and he may be better off just enjoying music and audio and not buying/selling gear.
3. As far as continuing to allow personal loaners, the staff will have to reach an agreement, but my opinion is that we should continue to allow them and it is the choice of all of you whether you loan out your personal gear. It is up to the staff to make sure the loaner program is as safe as possible by setting up rules, monitoring the loaners, and when something goes wrong like this, banning people from participating if we loose trust in them.
4. Honestly, our loaner program runs extremely well with very few problems or even hiccups of any kind. it's rare that I have to step in and do anything with any loaner, they usually just run themselves. This is a pretty isolated incident and I think we should be proud of how dependable and kind SBAF members are in general.
   
5. If/when @dematted comes back there will be no rudeness towards him about this. The consequence is not being able to participate in the loaner program anymore and maybe the F/S forum, not attacks and badgering from other members. He is a good person who is going through something we don't know about right now that is causing this.
