I got a sneak listen to the GS3000X. This was from the Folkvanger at the show. I used to own the GS1000. 3000X still had a similar U-shaped response with flat mids (yes, flat mids), but the emphasis at the ends was less extreme from GS1000. I actually liked the GS3000X.

Thank you for sharing that. I am very curious about them. I have considered getting a pair of GS3000e. I am a bit concerned that the GS3000x may be considerably heavier due to the aluminum core. Almost shifts my interests to the new GS1000x. Very curious to learn more about these headphones.

When it comes to the U-shaped response I usually do not like that with headphones or speakers. However Grados can be an exception for me due to the amount of detail and satisfaction they can still provide at lower volumes. Kind of like hitting a loudness button on a receiver at low volumes giving a better perceived balanced.

I hope it's not rude to bump such an old thread.

I actually own two rs1x's and they've been my most-used headphones for nearly a year now. Just felt like sharing that of all the headphones I've used, these synergize with the most amps while also having the resolution for them to all sound different. I own two because one pair stays attached to a fiio btr7 while the other is used exclusively indoors with my desktop amps. Especially now that I'm in my 30's and growing insane ear hair, often on-ear grado's are just more wearable than my fostex or zmf(especially -- I have to shave and tweeze out my ears before I can wear the verite). The on-ear design allows for perfect driver placement and they have better staging for it than any headphones that try to distance or angle their drivers. No, you do soundstaging with technicality and timing, and the rs1x's are very good in those regards.

I had rs1i's in the past and they sounded like ass compared to the rs1x's. I also owned hemps and liked them a lot, but sold them because the rs1x's are just better, though I could see some liking that the hemps sound a bit richer.
