One of those albums I absolutely loathe without being ran through the Yggdrasil. The track this arrangement is based off of is a fast-paced, synth rock track that has a serious sense of urgency. Here? Not so much, but the way it's structured is growing on me.

Who needs lyrics? Just let the melodies and rhythms speak...

Just poking around Qobuz yesterday, listening bits of all the recordings of the B Minor Mass I could find, and this one really jumped out, and I've been listening to it off and on for the last two days. I've heard other recordings of John Butt and the Dunedin Consort before, and I've had a generally favorable impression (and I genuinely can't remember if I've heard this one before), but this B Minor Mass is really impressing me...like "this might be my new reference recording of this piece" impressing. Not perfect...e.g., the attack on the opening of the "Credo" is good, but I've heard better (oddly, the really nail the Patrem Omnipotentem right after that, so I guess the slightly more restrained Credo was intentional)...but overall a recording that I'm going to come back to a lot.

Some '60s-esque psychedelic from Mr. Elevator & The Brain Hotel (getting Ray Manzerak vibes from the combo organ player)

I fell in love with this the first time I heard it. If you need de-stressing, this will do it.

This song is growing on me. Think of it like "Don't Stop Believing" but a mini-symphony of Prog goodness. Just the instrumental alone is epic. That acoustic guitar intro and outro get me every time. Such a good song.
