Diy headphones - planars, estats, ribbons

I bought minidsp ears and a quality sex doll head which i painted black, put on a pedestal, and will put small electret mics in its ears. I also sealed her lips shut, so the mouth hole is filled with air and becomes a cavity of sorts similar to nasal/mouth/sinuses - at least that's what I hope. I got a new one real cheap compared to what professional heads cost. Also the canal is really short and when you put your fingers inside her eyes bulge / pop out. I can't see how that would be a pleasurable experience if used for it's intended purpose.

Bought a crapton of rectangular bar magnets, thin mylar films, have a small cnc machine, and extrusion and resin printer, and I know how to do woodwork and a bit of metal working too.

We'll see what I manage to do. I sold my hd800, but kept my lcd2 and sr-l700 so I'll have something to compare with. I'll update this thread as I go, I expect it will be a very slow process.

 

Two questions:
1) what makes it a "quality" one?
2) why didn't you just buy a black one? That feels like the sort of thing that would have been a ready option

You have no idea how much I researched this topic (appropriate head for measuring headphones), I'm probably on all sorts of government lists right now. I know almost everything to know about sex doll heads, skins, materials, how to paint them etc. at this time. There is no option to order a fully black (like, black, not dark skin color) head. I think you could ask the shops to order a custom made one for you, but that means you have to order a new one and you can't buy a discounted extra head they already had if someone quit the order and they already made it or something like that.
You can get all sorts of heads in different sizes, shapes and forms, materials. I got a TPE one due to the fact that it's easiest to stain (a big problem for doll lovers, a benefit for me), mimics human skin properties best, and is a lot cheaper than silicone. 90% of silicone heads also don't have mouth cavity, so there is no air cavity inside the head, something I thought would probably be a good idea. There are some latex heads and some furry style textile heads too, that made no sense whatsoever.
So within TPE, you get a regular size head (there are a lot of smaller ones, elfs, a lot of interesting crap believe me), and there is a huuuuge list of different mxtures that different manufacturers use. Stuff like skin elasticity and how realistic it is, how much oil it will ooze (yes that is a thing), how much it will stink (yes, cheaper tpe dolls stink like gas), so on. I got a head whose skin is a little bit more on the firmer side (I'm not using it for fun, at least not that sort of fun, so I don't care much for softness to the touch, soft lips, tongue etc), but it doesn't stink at all and it will never ooze oils.
