Didn’t the last Modi Multibit already have Unison USB ?

nope. Never got added. Presumably bc the modi multibit 2 was on the horizon (and didn’t want to hear grumbling from people who didn’t want to pay for a new unit just to get unison).

is there going to be some sort of notification list similar to Piety for new Modi Multibit, or is it 'refresh the Schiit web-page every now and again' sort of arrangement?

@schiit always make a public announcement on their Headfi page when new things are available for sale - so usually everyone is aware at the same time. Sometimes Jason will make a profile post here as well.

I wonder what a NITSCH/Schiit DAC might sound like? I sort of wish LiM didn't sound as good as it does because I like the idea of the original A2 DAC chips repurposed from medical uses. Maybe there is some special tweak or DAC code "flavor" that NITSCH could bring to market?

I think NITSCH has not even fully launched their first product yet, and there is also the 3F coming. So it seems to me the focus is more headphone amplifiers. DAC's are a completely different animal and would take a bunch of engineering to do something that is doing something completely new. Although I will let @CEE TEE rule out DAC's himself, as there might be some room for some classic or vintage designs to do on a limited run, but that is all based on vintage DAC chip availability and what he has in store for NITSCH.

That said, all the multibit chips used by Schiit are used in non-audio ways from military, medical, industrial, etc. No one has attempted to reverse engineer these chips this way. There are no more multibit audio chips that are made. They are either D/S or some kind of odd hybrid.

Doesn't have to be NITSCH x Schiit. I'd love to see a spiritual successor to the RDAC. Maybe its @soekris turn for a collab?

Any reason why Piety uses a painted steel chassis instead of the aluminum that current magni/modi uses?

I think the painted chassis/case on all the schiit gear is steel, with only the cover being aluminum.

At any rate, I think the color scheme for Piety looks sharp.

The top is a dark grey powder coated steel, just like Schiit's black products - except dark grey.

I'm really looking forward to this amp. I'm super glad is isn't on Drop.com instead. I hope I don't somehow miss the email and get left out in the cold. @CEE TEE based on the number of notifications, will there be a race to get one?

@CEE TEE always finds the most considered projects to work on. This looks like a super interesting little amp that could bring me out of my self imposed exile for use with my mothballed HD600. I too fear that hype, time zones and 1000 F5 keys may work against me though.

Other news...just sent email to those on the notifications list (please check SPAM if you do not see it yet):

Piety orders will open this Sunday, November 20th at 9am PST.

This has truly been a joy and a dream come true…to help make the NITSCH x Schiit Magni Piety.

All amps are assembled and half of them are kitted.
The plan is to ship out all Sunday orders by Dec 5th.
Hope we get some good Piety time in during the holidays. :)

The majority of amps will be for the U.S. and Canada (120V, 60Hz).
There will also be these allocations with non-US power supplies:
    • 55 for Europe (230V, 50Hz)
    • 45 for United Kingdom (240V, 50Hz)
    • 35 for Australia (240V, 50Hz)
And now, to ship them to you!

Chronically sleepy the last few days so this is probably a gormless question, but what's the worst-case scenario running any of those out of 220V 60Hz mains? (cough)
