iESL anyone?

Folks, recently we've been asked a lot about our discontinued iESL for e-stats. Since the interest seems to be there, we're wondering whether we should make one more batch, but we need your vote to know whether we should do that or not

None at this time, but this might happen. We're still gathering feedback, also from our distributors. I'll inform everyone if we have any firm decisions, so for now please watch this space

As much as we'd like to do that, a black iESL would then become the Black Label type, so it would have to noticeably surpass the OG iESL. Not an easy thing to do

 

Are there any hypotheticals of what might be done to improve the performance of the OG to bring it up to black or signature label?

There's a part of my brain that really likes matching gear and shared power supplies (at times completely independent from sonic requirements). Having a single uber supply that feeds both iCan Pro and iDSD Pro, plus then using the special cable from iCanPro to iESL so it doesn't need it's own power cable, that would be *chef's kiss*.

 

iESL is essentially a giant transformer we make on our own, so we'd have to make it better for its intended purpose. That's not easy, especially if we were to remain somewhere within iESL's price point

 

I think I brought this up earlier in one of the prior threads ... Theorycrafting from an armchair engineer (the worst kind!): Since the transformer performs step-up duties to drive stats, could there be a switch integrated which would swap the ratio around and allow you to drive ribbon headphones? Add some versatility, increase price, make it a Signature edition, call it a day

 

@iFi audio any chance other discontinued items will be resurrected? I’d like to see the iTube2 available again.

Suffice it to say, we're up to speed with the demand for ribbon/e-stat cans, so something may come out of this eventually, who knows!
