Will there be wifi at the event?
Debating right now if I should bring a hotspot to the venue.

I have a Pi2AES, the concern is configuration because we won't have wired network access, only WiFi. Also more things to potentially go wrong so I decided to simplify instead and use USB from two computers.

I'll be hosting a wifi setup for the Nitsch table for this purpose. Probably no Tidal streaming, but enough internet access to hit Roon's API. So the pi2aes will work on this. I can even bring a preloaded SD card for your pi2aes with Ropieee configured to work out of the box with no provisioning steps needed.

Thanks for the offer, I also have a Ropiee card for my Pi2AES though it is configured for my network. I would need to stream both Tidal and Qobuz so unfortunately that wouldn't work for our needs. I was hoping for an ethernet connection so I could simply plug in my router and my streamers would just work. Ah well, so it goes with meets.

Ah, got it. The solution I was offering would just tap into the Roon Core that I'm supporting with Nitsch upon boot up and you would have been able to play from the ~7000 offline files that are on it.

I'm planning on bringing a small-ish tablet with Roon + Qobuz + maybe Tidal and HQPlayer loaded up in case anyone needs a USB (yuck) source for their table setup, or wants to muck around with DSP.

I’ll take you up on this, we could use another source. Thanks!

I think generally I've been asked if there was another source for someone's table. So if anyone wants to bring a spare, please do. I'm sure someone could use it.

Whenever I've gone to meets like this, this has been one of the bigger issues as people see all the flashy gear... with no source or dacs to go along with them. I've learned to at least pack my laptop to meets because someone will use it.

It's great to bring any extra gear or cables or gadgets to meets in case they can be useful to someone's rig if something doesn't work as planned.

I'm really looking forward to you all hearing my headphones! Albeit with USB as source sadly, but I'm working to make it sound as good as I can with some USB isolators and USB-SPDIF converters. Josh @loadexfa will be representing rhythmdevils audio for me at the meet because I cannot attend. He is part of the company now. He knows a lot abut the headphones and can text me if you all have any questions he can't answer. I'll make myself available via text for the whole meet.

It looks right now like I will have the following rigs powering these modded orthos of mine:

    RD-4
    RD-4z
    RD-X
    RD-R
    RD-S12 ortho iems
(with a ton of brand new tips in S,M, L)

    1)
Laptop with Qobuz or Tidal -> Hydra Z usb converter-> AES -> SFD2 DAC -> Minimax tube preamp -> First Watt F4 -> RD-4 mk1 and RD-4 mk2. (mk2 is faster and more resolving, mk1 is smoother, Josh prefers mk1 and I prefer mk2 so I have them both there and will probably offer both mods on my website)

    2)
laptop with Qobuz or Tidal ->Intona USB 3 isolator - Douk Audio Pro USB-SPDIF converter - SPDIF -> Yggdrasil A2/0g -> Cinemag CMLI-600/600C transformers Ampsandsound Kenzie Ovation Rev 1 (volume controlled by a Sys) -> RD-4z and RD-X

    3)
laptop or iPad with Qobuz or Tidal -> Intona USB 3 isolator -> Douk Audio Pro USB-SPDIF converter - SPDIF -> Gungnir A1 -> Cinemag transformers -> Antique Sound Lab MGhead mkIII modded by @uniqusrname -> 2 pairs of RD-S12's with a ton of brand new silicone tips in S, M, L so you can try them with brand new unused tips, and my RD-X and RD-4z works great out of this amp as well if the Ovation is in use.

    4)
One of the above Schiit DAC's -> Jottenheim A -> RD-R mk2 (my mk2 is faster and more resolving while the mk1 is smoother, similar to my RD-4, but my mk1 just had a driver die, so they need repair by Audeze unforuntely. But the mk2 is my favorite and will be there. They are best used with the bass boosts turned on with the Jottenheim A because the LCD-R drivers don't put out as much bass as neutral..

    Have fun everyone!
    Whitney

The LCD-R drivers are super supersuspectible to static.

Discrete amp is Sapphire v4.1 from RJM Audio, with some tweaks on bias from my side.
6SL7/6B4G amp is get-set-go amp from Shannon Parks, which is setup to run speakers but I use headphone directly off speaker taps as its only 2.5W/ch.

And both sound absolutely fantastic and should be found at the meet and listened to. @uniqusrname is a mad genius at making and tuning amplifiers.

Hey guys, I just signed up. I can bring a pair of Nelson Pass designed Amp Camp speaker amps and some GR-Research XL-S Encore speakers if you'd like to hear some amps and speakers, just for a change of pace, so to speak. Just let me know...cheers.
