Looks like it since the link references “emaiprice” and I’m guessing while stocks last. The 2022 version is the new version, and I believe Purr1n said the new version is just more laidback in tuning. This is a good price, I haven’t seen a used one this cheap.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. When I click on the link, I see $2699. When I go to the Adorama website and search for Focal Utopia 2020, I see the original price of $4399.

So I was just wondering where you originally got the sale link, @AllanMarcus, and if you know when the sale ends. The link says “email price”. Thanks.

 

I probably got it from Slickdeals. Links to Adorama sale items commonly have "&emailprice=t" and a bunch more tracking crap added after this string. The polite way of posting an Adorama link is to remove all the crap after the =t.

The mod that turns these into the FDX1 - on which the FDX1 was based, with input from people here - is described here. People who've heard both say that the bass ends up slightly different, the production X1 being slightly tighter and leaner. Also, the 01 comes with OG Spiral Dot tips, which are stiffer than the X1's SD+ and the later ++ version (I prefer the OG myself).

Whatever, at $129, I'd say these are a bargain.

Which of these are the one to get if I want to hear what is special about their obtuse drivers? I have a wide range of IEM's and the one I'm gelling with right now is the IE-600. I pull down below midbass about 1db and 8k-12k drop it 1 / 1.5 db

Is the nozzle for the FW01 removable and possibly interchangeable with the FD01? Would be an interesting frankenstein IEM

 

Maybe not, one of my colleagues has one of those FW01, the nozzle was glued and it snapped open due to external force...
