Since this is a basshead thread, I thought maybe I could do an interest check - Anyone think my vModa m100s would sell up here? They are in perfect shape, I would let them go for a steal...

They might. They're pretty cool cans. I thought they weren't quite worth the $300 and my big ears don't fit even in the XL pads.

You can see those in my avatar. My son likes them!

Same here, it would be fun to have the bass shakers on my 650. I saw some small tactial transducers, for example this one.

    http://www.amazon.com/Dayton-Audio-TT25-16-Tactile-Transducer/dp/B0045W10VW

It could be a fun DIY project it could be mounted to the cups of some headphones.

Or better yet use a subwoofer and the HD650 together.

Unfortunately none of the tactile transducers I've tried are super good with headphones. The Dayton puck is kinda neat but it is pretty cheapo.

I have a bunch of other tactile transducers that are way too big for headphones and pair nicely with the right setup.

@Luckbad I definitely haven't heard many of the heavy hitters, but I was definitely surprised by the bass I got from the Beyerdynamic T5p gen 2 run balanced through the audio-gd master 11. I ran the test playlist from your site, and I could feel tactile sensation of my head vibrating. The only other time I felt this sensation was when I tried out the Kannon's at CanJam (though the Kannon's created much more of that sensation; THOSE are the real deal when it comes to bass and I can't imagine any other headphone coming close to replicating the same experience without using similar technology.).

Any of my basshead brethren heard/felt an HE-6 driven by a speaker amp out of the speaker taps..............very very strong bass.

I have in fact. They're pretty epic, but I can't stand the treble even fully modded.

Wait, two pages on bass and no mention of the TH-X00? :p I'm intrigued by them, waiting until the eventual TH-610 variant with removable cables tho.

Right now my Fidelio X2 fill that dual role of good EDM + gaming cans pairing to my HD600 (good for everything else for me). I'm probably gonna dynamat mod my HD600 and see where they end up after that and a new amp, tho I know they'll never satisfy a true basshead.

I might be a closet basshead... I like those X2, I like using my Xiaomi Piston 2 on occasion instead of my Etymotics hf5... Maybe I just like slumming it like a slutty basshead.

Impulse, to my ears, the combination of the Liquid Carbon and TH-X00 is the "boombox" indeed...

The TH-X00 is a great gateway headphone. It's not quite a basshead can stock, but with EQ it can pound.

Fostex TH-900 are my go-to for when I want to feel the bass. I thought the TH-900's bass felt more visceral than a HE-560's (completely unscientific subjectivity). Of course, to be able to enjoy a TH-900, you have to be okay with the acute brightness along with the slamming bass.
