We are shipping four 503SPD2 units on Tuesday to fraggler, vastx, tboooe and pmorgan. We will have four more that can ship a week later. I currently have wfojas,
carlos and Scott Kramer. So that's 3 of 4.

Here is a link to the SW and installation instructions. They're first cut so please ask questions. Just note that my main SW guy is out most of next week.

    EDIT : https://github.com/Pi2Design/csb503spd2/releases/tag/initial

    Cheers,
    Michael

I'd love to try one as well if that last one isn't spoken four. I'll use the Volumio build with my Pi2.

I'm using a Bifrost Multibit which only has USB, RCA coax and optical, but I could get BNC converters.

Merrick I am so sorry. Just remembered that the fourth goes to mban who had emailed me awhile back. If I round up another I'll put you on the list. Send me your info so I can have it.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Would it be terrible to get another Pi2 or 3 to use? My SW guy is out most of next week so I won't be able to support a patch for you until he gets back. I had to make some decisions on his time this week and getting a bootable SD with [edit: Volumio 2] on it was the priority. But, I will get the patch, just not quite yet. :(

No problem. I can figure it out. Just looking forward to trying out the SPD2!

Woohoo! Looking forward to un-crippling my Gungnir Multibit with this :)

I may have missed that link, but didn't see it anywhere in the message. Can you edit or re-post the link @Michael Kelly?

@Michael Kelly I would also be interested to test these if you make up another batch.

Mike, I only need to use this build if I want to use the selectable clock right? I can use any software as long as it supports the Digi+ right (of course I wont get the benefit of the selectable clock). If so, I will be able to plug the SPD2 onto my Pi3 right away and start testing.

That is correct. We added the 27Mhz crystal to allow for this during the transition before our code is mainlined with the Linux kernel. Just remember, the performance you get this way will not be the absolute best the board can do.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Thank you. Of course I plan to run your Volumio2 version too but this way i can do direct comparison to the Digi+. Also, to clarify, can we use the XLR output? I think you mentioned a few posts back that its not ready?

It's enabled, but not tested. We see the signals on the scope, but we just have nothing to plug it into at this time. Do you? Anyone else on my test list able to test XLR?

    Cheers,
    Michael

Can I power the Raspberry Pi through the DC barrel? Or is it only for powering the RPi shield separately?

A feature I really like about this card is that I can still use the RPi camera. The HifiBerry card doesn't have a similar slot.

Woooah guys.... nice... I've been a little busy these days, I got married, and this looks like a nice reason to turn my setup on again :p
Can't wait to try the hat. Can test XLR also :headbang:

The barrel jack is for powering the hat, but if you have the jumper installed you can also power the Pi.

    Cheers,
    Michaelc
