The T8ie original had some serious balls. It's the first dynamic TOTL that left a solid positive sonic impression to me - no higher midrange/lower treble f**k up. Sad to know it had QC issues.

AK is a bitch to deal with to it seems. Last thing I'd want would be warranty issues with a company you can't get in touch with.

I think the issues with the original were down to the connector and hookup inside the earpiece, so hopefully they revised that and not the cable only. I quite liked the T8ie but way too lush and uneven for me. Some parts were beautiful, others not so much.

Those stock tip measurements look like something I might enjoy. Would like that earfonia guys review since he has a lot of experience with AT IEMs.

I wouldn't take those measurements at face value. In relative terms the new t8ie measures simlar FR to DN2000, but DN200 we should look at innerfidelity measurements where we see they are sooooo far from neutral or flat frequency response. Just saying don't expect these to be neutral...

I wonder how the T8ie MKII compares to the Dita Truth? I thought about the choosing the MKII over the Truth but I liked the aesthetic presented by the Dita Truth and (unlike most, I know) I like that the Van Den Hul cable is not removable . I am still curious nonetheless.

I'm not sure what to make of this anymore, my mk1 is honored and now I'm waiting for my mk2 to arrive. I have the option to sell this while it's still BNIB and wait for my friend to just sell his Andromeda for cheap.

After using the demo sample of T8iE Mk2 for a few weeks, and finally bought one for myself, I have a mixed feeling about it. The demo unit sounds better than the new pair I bought. But the demo unit have been used for quite sometime, and I have burned-in the demo unit for about 1 week. I'm not a burn-in guy, though I still do burn-in to observe quality issue. The new unit that I bought, out from the box, sounds bassier than the demo unit I've used for a few weeks. So clarity is better on the demo unit. Honestly I'm a bit dissapointed. I prefer the tonality of the demo unit which sounds flatter to my ears. I've measured both last night, and confirm the new unit has a few dB more bass than the demo unit... I hope I can return the new unit to AK distributor and keep the demo unit....

The only thing I feel missing from AK T8iE Mk2 is the analytical character. It is rather to organic sounding, and lacking the analytical character. I just wish it is a little more analytical, and it will suit me well. Anyway, I put the new unit in my toaster for burn-in, and let see if the clarity will improve (which I doubt so).

Btw, don't use my measurement to compare with other measurement. It is not absolute result, only relative measurement. I don't have standard measuring equipment, only MiniDSP UMIK-1 with DIY acoustic coupler. I use it only for comparison with other IEMs measured with the same equipment. So comparison only works for other measurement I did using the same measurement microphone, and the result is not supposed to be compared with measurement result from other equipments. And I use Psychoacoustic smoothing for the reason that my equipment is not precision equipment, so no point to look at the details. Only useful for rough estimation of how many dB is the bass and treble rise and fall in comparison to the midrange (500 Hz ref. point).

Totally different family of tonality. DITA Truth is brighter with a treble peak that annoys me a bit. While T8iE Mk2, the demo unit I mentioned, quite balanced to my ears, but the new unit I bought lacks a little clarity. So DITA up North, AK T8iE Mk2 is a little South.

I feel the same way as you do the first time I bought the mk1 though but after several hours of listening I suddenly feel that it's much clearer. I don't know whether it's just my brain adjusting but when I got my 2nd pair of unit, the same happens to me. I do hope the mk2 is going to be a tad brighter than mk1.

Oh god, if mk2 is a difficult piece of product also, I might have to swear off DD in light of a BA IEM that is not "ADD MOAR DRIVERS".

As mentioned earlier, I tested 2 units of AK T8iE Mk2, both have audible tonality differences. The demo unit is much better, more linear with good clarity, and the new unit I bought is more bassy and a little lacking in clarity. Now I'm burning in the new unit to hear if there will be any changes to tonality after burn-in. I did measure the new unit before burn-in. And the demo unit, I don't know how long it has been used, but I've burned-in the demo unit before, for around 150 hours. I honestly don't remember if there was any clarity improvement to the demo unit, before and after burn-in. By Thursday, the new unit have been burned-in for about 1 week. I will measure again and compare with the demo unit. I do prefer IEM or headphone that sound good out of the box and don't require burn-in. Changes by burn-in is actually a sign that the sound signature will keep changing over time. That worries me.

I will also look for third unit for comparison.
