OFFICIAL: Massdrop Sennheiser HD6XX

Sold out. That sucks. I thought I had it in the bag.. started trying at 1 minute before offical drop time. Never got through. So disappointing.

 

Aaand it's gone. For about a minute there it showed "5031 PURCHASED" lol

 

I wonder how many (or if any) of these orders are duplicates from frustrated people clicking order a bunch

 

WTF?! I was gone for like less than 10 minutes and how the hell did it get sold out completely? Last I checked less than 1500 units were sold in the last 2 hours, and everything goes poof in 10 minutes?

 

Over 600 user requests already, I wonder if/when Senn and MD are hosting their next hd6xx drop.

That was absolutely nuts. They should have started with the 1-per limit they ended with. Multiple tabs on several browsers -- felt like booking gig tix this summer. Expect we'll see "NIB" popping up on various sales threads for a nice little premium once they ship, only to plummet later. Oy vey.

 

Sold out! Waited in queue for 2 hours and got nothing.

 

I say we go full HF and have everyone post their order numbers so as to predict serial numbers. Now that's real important...

 

FYI, I might suggest keeping an eye on the drop. With all you key bangers, that might be full of duplicate ordering...

 

if not for the server overload, these would be gone within an hour... I see a lot of people with duplicate orders. Chances are there will be a small number available again very soon.

I think that I was lucky. Strange, didn't happens too often. I get it from the second try at ~1500.
This was~2hours from the start but then thing got crazy an in matter of minutes they got sold out.
I think also that people lost their patience and open multiple tabs sending orders continuous. For sure this didn't help so much as there were a lot of orders to be processed and same time paypal or CC transactions to be confirmed.
I've read about people trying from the begining of the drop and didn' succeed. Not a nice experience.
For me is the first purchase from Massdrop but I don't think that was other like this.
This says a lot about the HD6xx popularity. I don't think that are many other products to equal this and when you think for how long they are on the market it really became more impresive
The only thing that I could say is: Good job Sennheiser!

I was lucky enough to get in before 400, hopefully Massdrop learns from this and is actually prepared next time.

 

I got two it seems, if one doesn't get cancelled I'll ship to the first PM to me for $199+ship. (payment after receipt of headphones)

 

I kind of feel bad for suggesting that everyone be patient. If I had been in the queue for two hours and ended up holding nothing but my penos, I would be crest fallen.

 

Agreed. I think Massdrop had a good idea that this was going to be a huge drop simply by all of the discussions on th4 Massdrop forums. It should have been limited to 1 order per person - they still would have sold out. Sure I understand a lot of people had problems with multiple orders because Massdrop's ordering system was messed up, but the should have had it set up right before the drop started. Maybe I am wrong, but IMO it should have been limit 1 per person. I read in the discussion forums people intentionally ordering 7 pairs or more and even read one person ordered 17 pairs. Makes it unfair to those who just want to get a single pair for themselves.

EDIT:

I guess by what I read now is it was only one order per person, but the Massdrop ordering system made people accidentally order multiple units. So my mistake.

 

For those who missed out I wouldn't entirely lose hope. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for Massdrop to announce they have another 5000 units to sell for the drop like they did with the TH-X00.

 

That would be nice for those who wanted a pair and was unable to get one.
