I've been using flonase for the past 2 yrs for seasonal allergies, can't imagine going back to 2nd gen allergy drugs like zyrtec or allegra now, all those 2nd gen anti histamines made me drowsy. Flonase works so much better, I no longer dread spring, give it a shot if you have seasonal or chronic allergies
Tried Allergra - that gives me the chills/flu like symptoms. My doc thinks I am crazy, but I have tried it 3 times. Claritin is fine, but does not do much. I use flonase as well. Got an ongoing script for it. However, on shot days, I gotta take some for real antihistamines. I am a year and a half into my allergy shot therapy...only 3.5 years more to go.
I use nasacort and Allegra together. Only reason I use nasacort is b/c my wife (a physician) told me Flonase is harsher on your throat or something. They accomplish the same thing though.
Thanks @DigMe, I will give that a try. And I hear you @Vansen....*yawn*. I'm afraid if I put on my dreamy HD650's, I'll probably fall asleep in my chair right now...and it's only 7:30pm.
2 diff things. Claritin is an allergy antihistamine meant to be taken as a preventative for seasonal allergies over time. The 'D' is a nasal decongestant simply meant to give immediate relief of runny/stopped up nose already caused by seasonal allergies or cold.
When I don't succeed in keeping the mosquitoes at bay, a good, old-fashioned antihistamine that knocks me out is a relief. Might be about to take one...
