Overkill Red

Friend, Male, from Singapore

Pyrate

AT2020USB+ kicked the bucket finally. Picked up a Shure MV7 to replace it. So far very impressed! Mar 20, 2022

Oh, you went for Darth Vader black, rather than the wooden option. That's pretty srs-looking.

In hindsight I could've matched the wood on my desk, but I wanted the amp to match the HD800 at the time so... Haha.

In a way, I was ready for my YggyB to be delayed due to its popularity, but it still sucks to be waiting with fingers crossed haha

Anyone have any recommendations for decent, shielded power cables? Wouldn't mind DIY from reputable members too!

While you might earth the shield at the plug and make one yourself, it'd be much easier to make a simple twisted cable. It'll radiate/absorb almost nothing important. If you want a shield, buy a quality coax and carefully remove its mesh. Wrap your twisted cable in alu foil, and carefully insert into the mesh. Wrap everything in heatshrink, and you're done.

Obviously, connect the shield only at the earth ground. Also, all the wires in your home are probably not shielded, so I don't see much point to be honest. I measure around 1Vpp on my skin, just from induction from walls.

I've been thinking about it, but short on funds and cskippy's Code-Sex seems more appealing atm.. Considering returning my iPhone X to fund it actually :\
