Pretty much my thoughts exactly. So for now I've got all the parts but no way to join em without risking damage :))

I wonder if they use JIS screws, that look similar to philips head screws but aren't... I stripped many a screw on Japanese motorcycle carburator's until someone let me in on the JIS secret, and bought a set of JIS screwdriver's.

@JK47 so my accidentally stripping the head on the last headband may have been due to that... that'd make sense, since I'm usually pretty okay with tinkering.

Interesting. I wonder if my superset of bits has JIS. Must check. And be aware in future.

Would be interesting to see how easy JIS screws and tools are to come by outside of Japan, considering how prolific their products are.

Also, thanks again @JK47! I'm actually picking a JIS-compliant set soon. My cans are still out of commission for now, but I guess I can make do with my el cheapo IEMs while I'm trying to get these damn screws out.

You don't have to spend that much: smaller iFixit kits also include JIS. But no oak.

Haha! Drats, looks like I'll have to stop being stingy and get my own set! :P

But yeah, glad this was educational for you and me both, Thad. If nothing else, I've been able to readjust my ears to less recessed mids, so it'll be interesting going back to the X00s as my primary cans.
