Getting a fresh, decent roast from a local company and playing with pour-over will take you up about 10 levels and actually be a lot cheaper than K-cups. Like going from the earbuds that came with your phone to the HD598.

Does anybody have a good idea of how to clean non-leather pads? Little worry about long term management of "discontinued" products..

You can go a long way with 'soft on the skin' hand soap and warm water, followed by light oil (nut, so long as you're not allergic) if it's not suede.

If it's suede, there's cleaning kits for shoes to make nice after it's dry - the most important thing is to be delicate so it doesn't go bald.

@spwath I agree with you a lot. That's why I sold it in the end (two yrs ago). Unless intensively eqed, its tonality is very difficult to accept in general.

I did find a use for mine and kept them.

Best can I've tried when you want music only as a background.

Any time I'm working on something that demands absolutely no distraction, these come out.

Getting a new cable for mine though - the stock one is bad, and there's no way I'm going to clean a silver plug ever time.

Just wondering if Elex can do almost-nearly what Clear can do, in terms of both tonality and technicalities.

        brencho
Well don't worry too much. Clear pads still feel a nicer than Elex. They'll be a bit different in tonality, but both will be more similar to each other than to Utopia in technicality. From measures, looks like Elex rolls off low bass a bit more than Clear. Different impedance to so kind of amp might play a role too.

        Cellist88
might be easier to find a good amp for the Elex because impedance is higher. Its hard to find a good tube amp for the clear without going ultra high end like the EC AF. I'll settle for a t3....zds is too bassy....leaving a zdt....which is impossible to find. I would love to take @Ice-man 's kenzie but 32 ohms and 300 ohms just don't match with the clear ><.

Agreed. That's why I'm interested in Elex or Elear with a pad swap also, for ZD. For clear, I bet T3 would be boss without going for much more expensive amps. I'm not much of a fan of ampsandsound anyway

Audeze did very poor job in naming their products. LCD2C should be named as "LCD2 3.0" (as evolved from r2.2,2.3,2.5)

@SoupRKnowva Perhaps they don't.. To my ears, l2c is just in the newer generation (I admit newer isn't always better - like Senn). Not only sonically but also aesthetically/ergonomically..

I can agree with that, but any improvements theyve made to drivers and driver consistency are already in the regular model. I do think every one of their headphones should be using the suspension headband though, its absurd they dont, its incredible
