I think I have one of those: Crosby Stills and Nash. Well... I know I /have/ it: I mean the actual vinyl.

Crosby Stills and Nash is one of my all time favorite albums. The best deal was the Ted Nugent; it's a first pressing and in great condition for only $8!

Holy crap nice. Paying off bills while not particularly fun, though there is some satisfaction derived from it when you've done it, isn't lame though.

Mb42x is probably the best $70 I've spent on audio. The cabinets are nice and heavy too. I'm working on a chipamp for it but it keeps getting delayed.

imho the need to tweak is overstated. I have a 40-yr-old Thorens (albeit with a new SME arm) and it's been set-and-forget over the past 12+ months. Just wash your records before playing and store in decent anti-stat inners, and Bob's yer uncle. I would have bet my car that there was no chance I'd prefer the sound of my vinyl rig to my far more expensive DAC...

..Turns out I was wrong. DAC sounds softer and less involving in comparison. Problem with "going vinyl" is the price of the music, and the variable quality of modern releases. However, crate digging used records in a really good store is heaven on earth.

It can be as deep or as shallow as you want. I have an Technics TT from my dads basement, they are still cheap to buy though. 50 bucks for a new stylus, a 15 dollar belt, and a mani. Get a Sol when it comes out, find a cart you like, a decent phono preamp and you may not need anything else, unless you're a little crazy and hate money.

So as a result of this (and the talk k.e. started in shoutbox about those new closed cans), I'm back on Head-fi for a quick stroll.

MOAR bass on the closed cans +10-12kHz sizzle prolly means I'll not prioritise demoing them, cool as they look. Talk on the Bifrost Multibit (which I'm getting soon...) IS irritating, but potentially educational in the long term.

Poor master? I enjoy Tidal sometimes but there can also be the typical issues with masters. When they first started the MQA thing I listened through some of the albums and some had awful masters. Talking Heads' Remain in Light MQA version is totally effed.

Right now my main rig is Eitr > Modi Multibit > Jot > HD650s. I wouldn't say that I enjoy tubes or solid state more than the other. My priorities for music are instrument separation, detail and realistic cymbals. My current setup does all 3 very well, so maybe I should just stick with it.
