Sure, but mid-fi me listening mostly to speakers, MCTH is the last headphone-amp upgrade I'll be making for quite a while.

Shows you why its not worth investing in massdrop products with a long wait time, regardless of hype.

Was the LC considered "mid-fi" before price was announced for this incarnation and Monoprice attached their stench to it? Also, looking at the scant details and drawings released so far, not really counting on Monoprice to ship in 2 months. Guess we'll see it in '18, but it better destroy the Lyr 3 to ask $200 more of cheap mid-fi customers like myself.

In my understanding range of mid-fi is very wide in sbaf. For tube amps, from anything not that cheap (>$300) to anything not super expensive (roughly <$3000).

In other words, "get XXX and save up to YYY" ... I regard anything in XXX as "mid-fi".

The MCTH is half the price of the Lyr 3. They can be thought of as appealing to different price categories. If Lyr 3 is in fact better for most headphones than Rag, then either Rag is mid-fi too or Lyr 3 reproaches mid-fi status. Just my way of thinking about it.

The term mid-fi is linked to price, i get that. Once in a while, however, something comes along that defies the term. People have spent 2 - 10 times as much as the Lyr 3, for worse sound.

Sorry Monoprice, I'm betting on the Lyr 3.
