Also some dumbass in the PH governing body said he was proud of them for "standing [their] ground, fighting for the Filipino people". Last I checked fighting in basketball didn't necessarily involve throwing punches.
After watching the replay I feel some Aussies also behaved abhorrently. Both sides should have handled things better imo.
There were also some Filo players that appeared to try to protect the Aussie player being bashed by the mob. Should be more focus on these good samaritans rather than blind nationalism.
That was a shit show. Some people showing that it started at the layup line before the game, but the fact that the Aussies were putting the beat down on them probably made the Filipinos more salty.
@Stride Agreed, there were claims that the Aussie team were riling Gilas up during the warm-ups. Still doesn't excuse our team for acting like asshats.
@insidious meme I'm pretty sure the fact that they were losing by a country mile helped, yeah. I think it was a rough elbow from Gilas that was the last straw? Jesus. Shit show is a polite thing to call it.
