Bumped into an acoustic panel, which fell onto a lamp, which tumbled and gashed the front of the sub I was about to sell. FU, lamp.

@rlow , your almost amp vs foot made me wince: the sharp corner of a NAD 3020 once landed right on my bare big toe. Casualty for the hot-needle trick, where an intern poked rather too enthusiastically; and the toenail was finally left behind in Zion NP. But AFAIK, the amp still works.

Good, they sound bigger than they are but I think it's because they're currently on the floor (need to elevate them a bit). If I had to guess I'd say they start rolling off around 40Hz, but they definitely extend deeper than my 10in "sub". The impressive part is how clean and punchy they are. The 128H woofers in them are supposed to be some of JBL's best

I think the root of gear nervosa is a dissatisfied life. Gear is fun but can't fulfill you; find what does and the rest is just a bonus

Why do planar drivers sound so much less dynamic than moving coil drivers? Less excursion or displacement? Less rigid diaphragm material?

I suppose at least the suspension stiffness needs to be assessed outside of optical and electrical means. Damping could be seen from transients. I will start taking hp engineering seriously when they show Klippel style analysis, lol.

IME Younger kids lean towards bass heavy stuff cuz modern music is bass-reliant. I know of some older folks (who may or may not have tinnitus) who prefer brighter cans because it lets them "hear" higher frequencies again.

I'll let you know in a few decades what I'm rocking :P
