A lot better than what they became in the late 70s and 80s. I mean, just look at the album cover for Hot Streets. Terrible mainstream pop, compared to what they were.
Well maybe:
1. You are so sexy you could be playing "Never Gonna Give You Up" and still get panties to drop
2. Panty dropping rate != overall quality
3. Its a ok song but its not what Chicago was, its what everyone else was
1. Hardly sexy, more brute, even from a young age
2. When you're young, everything is quality, although I wasn't into any chick with a bigger butt than mine
3. Actually it wasn't Chicago, just f'ing with you, it was PC's solo project, but a lot of Chicago ballads were played during "jam sessions" from the era.
Notwithstanding pantie-dropping, it's pretty incredible to consider that the same group who recorded "You're the Inspiration" in the '80s had on their debut album a 7-minute track consisting entirely of Robert Lamm's guitar feedback. Just need Steven Wilson to give CTR the remix treatment.
They knew where the pussy was at, and they weren't gonna get it with super guitar distortion groupies from the 70's, because the chicks fro mthat era were all dead from overdose's or homeless by the 80's.
