It's all been downhill since the days of the classic HFMs - 6/5/5LE/500/4/400. Better performing and less reported failures. Still plastic and meh build quality, but puts the stuff 2013-present to shame in most respects.
@skem Nothing special, I just don't like them. Renaming their new HE-560 "V2" to "V3" or the introductory discount (was $900 but now $300 in Adorama...how much profit are they making out of those things?)...the way they do business just repels me
@skem Or the new HE-1000SE, whose best new feautre is...neodymium magnets...3000$ and two revisions for the HE-1000 but they were using ceramic or ferrite magnets. All of this while manufacturing in China (nothing wrong, but lower costs)...is just bonkers
It is sad that products are not available to us at the cost of production. One cannot fault HiFiMan for trying to maximize their profits. It's not clear to me that Feng is maximizing his profits, but only he knows. Too bad there can't be more Nelson Pass like spirit here: expensive Pass Labs for the luxuriators, good but simple First Watt for the rest of us.
Of course, business have to make profit...but how can one small niche audio company justify a 66% discount? feels like the headphones cost 10$ to produce, it's just excessive and a bad joke IMO
My bowel movements have more reliability than a hifiman. I don't know why anyone still gives that company money. They make some good sounding headphones, but not good enough to have the piss poor quality control they have.
I'm not sure what that picture is supposed to be saying about hifiman. That it makes you gay and that's supposed to be a bad thing or what am I missing here.
