Nothing wrong starting basic. I started with KEF ls50 which I think are bested by far cheaper offerings, but they are very nice sounding and measuring speakers placed correctly. You could consider upgrading to those at some point? What's far more important tho, is room placement.
FYI I have a 9Wpc SET 300B amp and I'm probably not going to upgrade to anything below 96db efficiency. Now the nervosa is about placement and stuff....
