I don't think it's odd. I haven't met a planar yet that didn't rub me wrong one way or another.

Well, I'm not giving up my LCD-4 or AB-1266 Phi CC anytime soon. They still do things no dynamic can match, even if there are more things that dynamics do better. All about matching the instrument to the task.

am sorry you own 15 dynamics. yet 2 (good) planars seems about par for a collection unless owning LFF pairs.

I completely understand. My starting D/P ratio was 0:7. Now its 8:4.

Part of it may be that a lot of planars end up impressive but ultimately wonky. If you spend too much time with "not all that wonky", it becomes hard to go back.

My ratio is 1:1, which is also my ratio for open/closed

Yeah, no. Lots of dynamics sound wonky AF too. In a world with Beyerdynamic, it doesn't do to be too smug.

It's more that there are a few more unfucked-ish dynamics.
