Screen and camera take priority, don't power to run games or anything, haha. Will mostly just be using it as a cheapo DAP/for surfing the net/reading ebooks. I'd rather not have to lug a proper camera around, the lighter the Android skin the better.
I've had good luck with moto and LG, especially v series for music. Cameras without a movable zoom lens all suck, unless you are into selfies I suppose, oh and putting dog ears on faces, haha
Speaking of older flagships, also considering the Pixel 2 XL just for the camera. Ideally buying new, even if it costs a bit more, because it's *kinda* hard to find someone who takes care of their phone hereabouts for some reason.
@bixby BWAHAHA, that'd be for my sisters I guess. My current phone is actually a Moto Z Play (first gen), so I'm tempted to go with the Z3 Play just so I can keep using the JBL motomod thingy.
That's a compelling argument right there! Hope the same deal holds true in my neck of the woods, hopefully the Z3 has better low-light camera performance at least; I already hear the battery life isn't as great, which is a shame
Yup, I've made a habit of doing all that since I got my first smartphone back in 2010 or so. I do spend a lot of time reading ebooks (and Japanese manga) in my downtime though, so what I save by not using BT/mobile data and nixing notifs I burn on powering the screen, haha.
I had a mi 4i and now a mi A1. In between was a Moto X Play. I would still have the Moto, except it was on my wife's lap when she got out of the car, and we suppose it fell to the ground, and from there, climbed into somebody else's pocket. Mind you, the battery was on its last legs after a couple of years, but that was fixable.
@Thad E Ginathom That's exactly what's wrong with my mobile, actually. The battery on my Z Play barely lasts half a day of modest use after two years and change. Makes me wonder where Moto gets their batteries made.
It is not the two years I mind so much as the not-customer-replaceable. I just want to be able to easily buy a new one.
Being fair to my X-Play: it had dropped from over 36 hours of battery life to having to charge it every night. It still got through most days. It was still as good as any other phone I had.
Ahh yeah, user-replaceable batteries need to make a comeback. The one on my Moto lasted 36 easily with moderate use, which makes its current state stand out all the more. Lenovo makes a good phone, and the gesture controls on the Moto are among the better I've had the pleasure of using.
