    HE400S sounds better IMO aside from bass roll-off (just get different pads). So...HE400S. I think it has a better tonal balance and can only stand the bright, uneven treble on the K7XX for so long.

    I own the K7xx and have heard the 400s quite a bit although I do not own it. They are both fantastic values, but if price is at all a consideration then the k7xx is even a better value at 1/3 less of retail price. 1/3

    Putting price aside I disagree with Hands on the tonal balance. I think K7xx has a better tonal balance and unlike previous K/Q7-- iterations I do not feel that the treble is at all problematic. It is actually the 400s (and the 400i even more so) that to me that is a bit too bright. 2/3

    But both are great cans. Even at same price, but certainly at $100 less, I would go with the K7xx. However, if you want flexibility to drive the cans nicely from just a portable, then go with the 400s. But both are great cans.
