I feel like we're maybe 3 or 4 years away from really good resolution, framerate AND field of view (right now it's more like "pick any one of three"). For certain types of gaming - flight sim is my personal thing - VR is really transformative of the whole experience, even in its current state.
I'm a PlayStation/Sony fanboy myself (ergo super critical of their headphones, haha), but I'm usually late to upgrade consoles for a variety of reasons. Still on PS3 for now, but at least there are loads of games I haven't played yet :))
Now flight sims are one thing but when the heck are we getting decent, Armored Core or Gundam-level fights in VR?
Looks cool! Dated graphics certainly, but I've always had a thing for blocky polygons in flight sims. Something retro-cool about em, haha. Granted, realism is nice and all but there are loads of games that are perfectly amazing even with shite aesthetics.
Falcon gfx were shite even by 1989 standards. 3D on an 8MHz cpu was always going to be underwhelming, my personal favourites on Atari were Interphase and Starglider 1 (particularly the latter for its beautiful use of wireframe).
