Don’t know that I’m ready to sink that much cash into Roon yet - still on my 2 month trial. Plan to sign up for a year when that’s over and see where it takes me.
On the Digi Sig, seems like one of the best deals out there right now for SPDIF based streamer (possibly the best value by a long shot). Although I’m sure it can be beaten, you’d likely have to pay a heck of a lot more, and possibly for not that much increase in SQ. Seems like a no brainer if you want to avoid USB.
Decided to go ahead with Roon, lifetime. And I'll get a DigiOne signature as well once I figure out total cost and where is cheapest (looking like buyapi). Just need to narrow down an LPS for the "clean" side that isn't stupid expensive. And a new dac...DSJr is being shipped out tomorrow for something smaller. TBD
@rlow I'm not sure, something smaller/cheaper certainly. For now I put the money into stocks, trying to #adulting more often lately. For fun before it left, I tried the DSJr, 1421 and the lowly Squeezebox Touch built-in dac on my stereo. Bass quantity/texture and imaging/air etc images hanging dropped off in that order. The DSJr is expensive but does bring a lot to the table IMHO
