I heard stock Af (no feedback) with RCA black plate 2A3’s and WE396A with HD800SDR this weekend and thought it was fantastic. However, I love clarity and deep soundstage. Plus I heard on my Yggdrasil A1 which is now en route for A2 upgrade.
You will get better bass control, a little bit less bass, slightly smaller soundstage and expansiveness, and a less seductiveness with FB. Why not get an AF with a switch that does both?
I'm running Feedback and Audiocaps from Craig's recommendation. I'm also using HD800 (soon to be SDR). The sound with feedback is clearer and more controlled but looses a touch of bass bloom and the slight aura around sounds that non feedback has. I have it voiced in between SS and tube yet it has more slam than any SS amp I've tried and is still very musical so never fatiguing or boring.
They're better than the stock caps with similar tonality. Jupiter caps sound more "Hifi" to me. I think Audio cap Theta works better with HD800 but the best of the best are supposedly the Dueland caps.
