In other news, currently (finally!) looking into smallish DIY speakers after putting it off for months. Seems DIY is far from cheaper but it'll keep me busy procrastinating when I have actual work to do :P

What flavour popcorn walls? Salty popcorn makes you thirsty. Caramel is an acquired taste and natural works with everything.

Costs a bit though. I have made similar with chopped up 2x4 under acoustic fabric to make it look clean.

@ogodei, no I hadn't, but haven't looked into these things for a while. The site I recall gave exact details on how to construct diffusors with fairly simple woodwork: just rather a lot of labour. IIRC, they gave all the dimensions/formula etc. And sold then for the lazy. Hmmm... Maybe I'll try googling "open source diffusor"

@Thad E Ginathom Massively easy to do, IF you have a table saw. Also check this out: https://rpgacoustic.com/flutterfree-t/ They obscured the depths of the cuts in the tech drawings or I'd have made it for my theater already.

I'm not actually all too worried about getting a "proper" system in just yet. Only been wanting to get a not-horrible speaker rig in place for when it's just too damn hot for headphones, haha. I've got enough poop around my room that I needn't worry too much about reflections :P
