To be fair, where you consume with audio gear you can create with photography. (I guess you can say that you create new interpretations of music depending on how your chain sounds but shhh)

I wish a fixed lens solution would have worked but your concert photography was a tough use case. My photography spending totally stopped after I sold everything and went RX1R II.

I also really wish I could have gotten away with a fixed lens solution as well :(

I seem to be using it for a lot of other stuff, but the main impetus being taking pictures at shows kind of keeps me in the ILC world i think. Though maybe something like an RX1R II for most of the time and then the a6300 with two lenses for shows might make sense in the future

I would keep it simple. Multiple bodies for different uses becomes cumbersome. Just keep the ILC with a single, smallish prime for everyday use and swap out the lens when required.

I will say the A6000 + Zeiss Touit 32mm was a phenomenal little kit for years but I wanted the absolute best when the second kid came around and I was too tired to be swapping lenses all around.

GAS and spending with photography is far worse than audio. There are much better excuses to buy two lenses than two pairs of headphones. And now I have five.

Lol @Thad E Ginathom I did just buy two more last night, I wanted a smaller 35mm than the 30mm sigma, so I got the Samyang, and I also grabbed the 56mm Sigma, which I’ve wanted from the beginning

And now you have me looking at the GR III for an even more pocketable solution.

It’s too easy to get sucked into caring too much about sharpness, read Ken Rockwell’s piece on the subject and was a good splash of cold water for me

I do lament the lack of decent cheap 35mm equivalent lenses for the APS-C emount cameras

Dude, go Pentax and hunt for the their old SMC-series manual lenses. They have no AF or AP functionality but do have sharpness and crisp colours you will love. I would almost recommend Nikon but that Nikon/Nikkor brand commands high prices and Nikon does not understand the importance of legacy lenses like Pentax.

I was reading a blog post on cheap used lenses today. It is all very interesting, and my one legacy lens does offer rewards all its own, but in general... Yes, one can buy lots of cheap lenses like that, but then why did I buy a body with sophisticated autofocus mechanisms. Might as well have bought an older camera too.

My next camera will be a Pentax K5 or K50/70. After that I am done with big DSLRs. If I had been a Nikonian I would have chased the D700/750, gotten the legacy lenses and stopped a long time ago.
