The way it's going, I'm going to need a shot of Jack. Caught the pipes before bursting. Some things are better to hire out, though expensive. It's the water damage that will run the bill up ... carpet, underlay, sub-floor, insulation ...

Yeah, the plumbing repair was the least expensive part. In only a few days mold had started. Drywall, carpet, underlay removal, followed by drying and dehumidifying equipment for 5 days ... read expensive (several Aficionados + tubes worth) and NOISY. Lab will be closed for awhile. Thank-you all for commiseration etc.

Anyway, good that you got it found and fixed now rather than when even worse.

Update: it's going to be several more 65 dBA days of drying. Total cost will be about two Aficionados + really nice tube collection including rare unobtanum 2A3 and WE396a.

Very high deductible to keep annual expense down. Basically disaster insurance. Still, if this is the worst to happen, I'm doing well for the duration. I feel for those currently experiencing health issues.
