Richer Sounds branches are among the smallest hifi shops you can find in UK. Eschewing (bless you) fancy stores, they set up in side streets, and boasted the highest sales per sq. ft.
It's not what it was. Used to be just pure hifi, and only "separates" (2-channel stuff to my friends in America) but later came to include general electrical goods. Still a great place to buy last-year's model at a bargain price.
Back in the day... That particular day when I moved into a house by myself and didn't have anybody else's hifi to live with, Richer Sounds was still a small company with one or two shops. And they sold real treasures. Bankrupt stock as well as earlier models. At great prices.
I did some extra work, saved some pennies, and took about 400 UK pounds to their shop. Comparing reviews and measurements had really done my head in. I put it on the counter and said "What will this buy me!" And took home some nice Sony and Akai stuff.
Bought a few other things from them, over the years. Thanks Julian Richer :)
