    Grilled Tuna steak + pesto.

If only you could get decent pesto elsewhere - except here where it was born the basil tastes minty and makes the pesto icky.

And also tuna is poison now.

    Oh well.

Wait what I literally just had tuna 5 minutes ago.

As for pesto, minty basil sounds... odd? Might be good. I dunno, gonna try making some with a hint of mint.

Sea's full of heavy metals now, tuna are near the top of the food chain and accumulate it. Big fish are a dirty pleasure now.

All basil has a minty aftertaste, unless grown in very specific soil/weather combinations.

Where I live is where pesto is from, any rando off the street can bore you for hours talking about it xD

@DigMe not nearly drunk enough to make shit like this up. No really, go for it :))

@Taverius I imagine it gets tiring! I can see what you mean about basil having a ghost of mint in it, but are you saying it's pronounced in the pesto you're familiar with? Curious to try that, hah.

Also, if you're familiar with a musician on YouTube who goes by Dodie (I'm kinda just okay with her but my sister is a huge fan), she's to blame for the banana/pesto effery.

More like, when you're used to pesto without the mintyness it just tastes wrong when it's there.

I heard once somewhere that a scoop of vanilla ice cream, poured over with Scotch whiskey, and sprinkled with black pepper makes a fine dessert.

    Never have tried it though.

And yeah…most of the pesto in the US is gross.

@Taverius I'm gonna make some pasta and not tell anyone I spiked it with mint.

@Syzygy I drink milk and soda together and occasionally crack black pepper into green tea— that whiskey ice cream intrigues me.

@Cspirou depending on which part of my status you were complaining about we might not be friends anymore /s

@Syzygy - substitute the black pepper for crushed dried chiles and that actually sounds pretty good. I might have to try that. Spicy Boozy Ice Cream!

LOL i agree. Anytime someone tells me most anime sucks and thats why they dont watch it, i respond that most everything sucks, it always takes work to find the good stuff. Sturgeon's Law is real

Anime is cool. Banana + pesto is the devil

You're already on thin ice with music preferences. The only thing saving you is fountain pens.

And yes, ice cream with black pepper is a good combo. With balsamic vinegar too

Black pepper and chili peppers (dry) on hot choco is even better <3

@Cspirou Glad the pens are coming in handy for SOMEthing now that I'm not writing nearly as much lately :P

@Taverius BLACK PEPPER AND CHOCOLATE IS GREAT. Try a small pinch of cayenne powder!

I tried vanilla ice cream, irish whisky, with crushed red savina chiles last night. Despite the heat of the chiles I couldn't really taste them. So the remainder of the bowl I added the black pepper. Edible, but not spectacular.

It was some interview with a celeb where he said that…perhaps Paul Newman? It was a long time ago. That era. Maybe mid-late 80's interview.

It always intrigued me, because it doesn't sound great. But yeah the spicy pepper does.

Maybe it needs more pepper, less ice cream! Asian cuisine is known for mixing spicy+sweet.

Maybe if I ground up the chiles to a finer grind then it might be better. I think it also needs some fruit or apple pie filling. The whisky and Ice cream is pretty good if you let them melt together a bit. - OK, now this has evolved (or devolved) into something completely different than the original suggestion.

Honestly I'm all for weird food mixes and I'm kinda tied up until mid July to really experiment, so I encourage others to try weird food combos and have fun with it (so I know what's worth making for myself haha).

Ok so a few more strange ones:
    1. Peanut butter, mayo, lettuce and cheddar cheese sandwiches. I ate these as a kid.
    2. The Canadian Bacon and 'kraut pizza allegedly originated in Iowa. Ham and Kraut is the cheaper alternative and it's pretty darn good. Mix a small % of swiss cheese in with the mozzarella.

I like both anchovies & steak. But steak is pretty much a once-a-year (anniversary) thing since we all became pescatarians in my house. And I'm not putting anchovies on my Ruth's Chris!

My grandmother used to ask me if I want both butter and mayo on a sandwich, and that always seemed not-quite-right to me. So I think I'd have to pass on PB&M.
