Family food expenditures were double last month compared to regular. My wife panic bought but then I panic ate ....and drank

The only thing we panic-bought was cat food. Oh, and ice-cream. I don't remember ever having had such a cheap month.

They finally closed the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I mean, even a huge mountainas National Park is not safe. At least when the popular trails are still packed.

I guess I'd consider myself a low level prepper. Like maybe a 3 on a scale of 1-10. I probably keep a couple months of food around and I regularly order ammo because I like to shoot for fun. I don't think that's uncommon in my area. In any case I think this Corona Virus thing is 99% hype, but I'm not ignoring the probability that crazy people overreact and make problems worse.

The risk is real, but the overreaction is creating a strain on all systems. However, being able to shoot ground varmints in rural areas might be useful for multiple reasons. Wash hands, don't touch face, avoid interacting with people showing illness, act calmly and be supportive of those that may need help.

The test is only in the 500Hz to 8k range, to check how you hear voices. I have some hearing loss. It's mostly flat but I have a 10dB dip in the 6-8k range. Doc says it's not bad enough to warrant a hearing aid. Maybe I should own unmodded HD-800.

I think we broke 60 deg yesterday. Which for Christmas in Iowa is insane. I installed a car stereo in the boys Toyota, which would otherwise have to wait for Spring to avoid frostbite. Then I grilled vegetables outside for dinner while smoking a nice cigar and drinking a Toppling Goliath Pompei IPA. Best Christmas ever.

@purr1n, if you don't want to do jury duty, tell them you're an engineer. In my city they think that engineers are too analytical for duty.

I don't have a problem with doing jury duty. My employer fully compensates for it, plus I get to keep the pittance that the city pays jurors. I just made the comment that locally they don't seem to pick engineers very often. If I was a defendant I'd want thinking jurors instead of a bunch of people who don't care.

I also noticed that on Qobuz, I often get a brief stutter when hitting play on a new track. Just on the first 1/4 second at the beginning of a track. This is on the MacMini. Android seems ok.

Tidal has a bad habit of dropping out of the HIFI setting and down to High when I play some new stuff on Win desktop app. Be sure to check you SQ settings on playback.

@bixby I've noticed that recently too, but on my work computer where I can only play within a browser, and not through the separate Desktop application. It says that HiFi is only available through the Desktop app, so weird you're getting the same drop there.

It’s a good album. But it doesn’t stack up to Lateralus. They sound tired. Too proggy. 7empest sounds like a flaccid version of Ticks & Leeches stretched out to 17 mins. In short, Tool on LSD > Tool on wine. But I’m still psyched to see them live in November.

Back in the day I think a coworker used to get All Music Guide and I'd look through it when I had a chance. I also used to love Rolling Stone and SPIN which would review some fringe stuff. I had a "free" RS subscription last year and it wasn't even worth that. By the third issue they went right into the trash.

Not the same, but this made me think of ~16 years ago when I didn't have the internet and the only way I found out about new music was to look at the liner notes of albums I loved and see the bands that were thanked, and then track down their releases. Wouldn't go back to that, but there's something magical about discovery when it's not just a matter of a few keystrokes.
