...in origin, at any rate. I see that there were 13.7 /ounces/ in that can of Heinz beans. Britain has been metric for quite a while: I'd expect the weight to be in grams, with no mention of oz.

(It is my "mother country" but I have not spent much time there in recent years. So I can't check this)

Wondering - YMO was there a typo, dropped consonant in "fat"? (Apologies, too much puerile humour.)
Marmite is the best spread that ever met toast.

Marmite might be the best British thing. Even better than the BBC.

Yes it's a toss-up between Marmite, Rowan Atkinson as the "Black Adder", and Tim Berners-Lee.

@hikergrl - liked for the dropped-consonant suspicion; but really, honey is the best spread that ever met toast. And to your list above, add Tim Brooke-Taylor (and the other two Goodies).

…four. The four best British things are Marmite, Rowan Atkinson, Tim Berners-Lee, Tim Brooke-Taylor, and Monty Python.

    I'll come in again.

No spam! No eggs! You need to work on your Britishness. Yes, get addicted to tea and biscuits and become a professional sandwich maker who enjoys an odd crossword puzzle in the newspaper.

    Just skip the opium...

Well, well... I'm very suprised that none of you USAians picked me up on this. I did have some doubts after posting.

As a Brit, Heinz ketchup and beans seem very much a part of British life to me, but my suspicions are right: the company is American.

I more sure that Marmite is British, though!
