The "pop" when you turned it on? I thought I blew out my HE500's once because of that. Sounded like a pop gun in my ears.

@m17xr2b start up probably. I always started the amp with the volume knob all the way down with no music playing and check multiple times before inserting tubes. I turned on the amp after coming back from work for a quick sesh, then my dogs were barking so I went downstairs with the amp still on.

When did you get your Lyr 3? All current ones have DC sense and protect that eliminates any chance for this to occur. Contact us so we can have a look and update the board if necessary. If the headphones aren’t covered under warranty, we will take care of those as well.

I came back and started hearing less on the left side, then the left channel started cutting out. Finally no sound on the left after 5-10 mins. I tried swapping out cables and sources but issue still persisted. But no worries, I already sent back the Verite to Zach to get the drivers replaced!

@schiit I bought them used so I have no idea, but thank you for the excellent customer service! @zach915m is already taking care of the situation for me, so no big deal :)

You should contact us to have the Lyr 3 looked at. It should be impossible for Lyr 3 to kill headphones. Doesn’t matter if it’s used or not, we will take care of it gratis.

Great to hear that both amp and headphones are taken care of by their respective manufacturer.
Look at the bright side, you were not listening to music when it happened as loud pop or noise is not good news for ears.

Just to be thorough, did you check different tubes and or a different amp to make sure it wasn't a tube dying or other on board component on Lyr 3?

@schiit When you said "All current ones have DC sense" was there a running change? I bought mine within the first week of release. I suspected it might have damaged a pair of Clears last year, at the time I left them plugged in when turning the amp on and off. Now I wait for warm up turn volume all way down with no music playing to plug in to be safe.

I'm not looking for any sort of warranty/replacement of the Clears, the company I purchased them from took care of that. Curious if I should send the Lyr in to make sure it is okay and possibly updated to have the DC Sense? I haven't had any other issues with it, but I am very cautious about procedure for plugging headphones in. Thanks!
