Agreed, I love the countertop finish. I REALLY hope this is the same sonic performance as older HD600 by the way, running changes notwithstanding.

@Lyander it looks like HD650 also got a slight updated look, so I'm hoping it's just the design change, and not a tuning change.

Wait didn't someone "confirm" that the 650 was pining for the fjords? I swear the HD650 has been killed off and revived more times than Krillin.

Just looks like a 650, what's the point? The original look wasn't great, but this is just lazy of Sennheiser.

Counterpoint: The old one was unspeakably hideous, and making basically any change at random would have made it better. This is a huge improvement. (Like for real, back a million years ago when I was deciding whether it would be worth upgrading from the 580 to 600, the part where the 600 was so ugly did a good job of saving me money.)

While I genuinely think the old HD600 looks better than the HD650, I fully own up to the fact that my aesthetic sense is fucked to hell and that @mkozlows is probably more representative of the general population XD

Look good. They're not like the 650, they're blue like the 6xx.

Changing to a 650 cable would have been a good move, possibly cheaper for Senn too in the long run.

I may be in the minority here. I dig the new, all-black matte finish over the old one.

My pet theory on the faux marble is that Senn expected it to get banged up in the studio, and the faux marble would hide the scratches.
