It is one of three headphones that I've sold and later purchased again (HD600, LCD2.1, Andromeda) I personally prefer my vintage HD650, but I could easily live with HD600 also.

I just like lightweight over ears. Didn't like the fit of the Focals, the weight of the ZMF, and more.

yes... as long as they have a 2 ch. setup they listen to most of the time. :) i've pretty much settled on the HD650 as my only "audiophile" headphone.

Yes. I find it to be the least retarded headphone, on the balance of things.

It was the first ‘real’ headphone that I bought and the last one that I still own.

Actually, @Soups is probably correct. With my 2 channel setup taking priority, my headphone setup is whatever seems "good enough"

My first audiophile headphone was the HD600(stil works great after 17 years for my brother). Knowing then what i know now it'd still be my main headphone and my 2ch would be even better. Or I'd be down even more money in the 2ch game. At least i'm happy now with my setups.

I sold the HD 600. It resolved but was too dirty. My only open headphone is the Porta Pro.

There's too much good bass heavy music to enjoy, so no. Still not even close to selling my pair.

So for those that "settled" for an HD6whatever, how nice a chain did you build for it? Were the dollars not spent on more expensive headphones dumped into maxing the chain or just into 2ch?

You could do a lot worse than an HD600. But I also wouldn't spend too much on the rest of the chain.

HD600 can scale but there are better options today. It’s continued relevance is the performance:price that it offers, and supporting gear should follow suit. Modi/Vali is the sweet spot. If you want to go down the rabbit hole with headphone gear, get HD800 or ZMF, according to taste, and embark on the eternal quest to strike down their flaws with magical cables, esoteric tubes etc.

If you find a synergistic setup like a BH Crack with good tubes yes. Just don't think or pretend it's endgame. The point is you have to spend 5x-10x more for a sorta upgrade or sidegrade. You do have to like it in the first place.

HD600 + Vali 2 with a nice NOS tube is more than good enough for me. KSC-75 with headband + Fulla 2 is also a super synergistic pairing. Add in an airplane iem with decent isolation and what more do you need? Why spend $3--5k on a headphone rig?

Just repeating the chorus here, but Modi/Vali 2/HD600 is killer. It can absolutely be someone's only headphone.

Yes. I still want to buy a spare. Saving up these days.

Had the same feeling with the AKG 500s.
