Clear lacks some wow-factor, but it does so much right. A bit like the 600-series. A very well thought-out product. Good times. May 22, 2020

Headband is quite ok for me, that light grey color is prone to coloration tho.

HE500 sounded just great out of ZDT Jr. (vs ADI-2's amp) - am I going crazy? Great body and soundstage.

The general consensus is the ADI-2's inbuilt amp isn't great. Clean and accurate, but not much soul.

The new Tool album is a pleasant surprise after the lowered expectations of the 1st single. Starting 3rd spin.

My 6 year old iMac works real smooth after RAM update from 8 to 24gb. At least a few years still in this machine, nice!

I recently "upgraded" to a 2010 Mac Pro: dual 8-core 2.4GHz Xeons. Put a new graphics card in, NVMe drive, max'd the memory at 128GB. All for ~$800. Gonna update to dual 12-core 3.3GHz for $500 more.

Coming from Macbook Pros that thermal throttle (and limited to 16GB RAM), it's the fastest computer I've ever used.

Was using 43G of RAM last night editing photos. :)

My heaviest use is video editing and recording in Logic. I bet more RAM will help lots with video especially. This iMac is a late '13 27" 3,2 GHz Intel Core i5. 6 years is forever in computers, since my last Win-machine was totally done in 5.

I have no need for a new computer, I'm happy more memory helped this much.

Yes, video editing eats as much memory as you can throw at it. (Not to mention disk space ;)

For what it'll save you in time, it's really cheap. I think I spent $200US on the 128GB of ECC RAM.

It's not my favorite Tool song but I like it. I also suspect that once I hear the album through from beginning to end it will be even better. Hell I didn't really enjoy 10,000 days very much when it was first released, just couldn't get into it for some reason. Didn't listen to it for quite some time, came back and it started growing on me really quickly and now love it.

Got intense Lateralus vibes from it, and was conflicted. Wanted a unique evolution of that sound, but even if they just remade one of my favorite albums I'd hardly have a basis for complaint. Full album will tell.

I suspect that using deep iems, or even a simple earplug, forces wax into the ear.

It doesn't just force it in, blocking the ears for long periods generates more wax.

As someone who was 30 at the time, yeah it scared the shit out of us. It was my first year as a teacher and I had students bursting into tears thinking we were all going to die of radiation poisoning. We were in NorCal. What I remember is the delay in telling the world. Radioactive milk showed up in stores in Sweden I think. It was mostly consumed by the time they checked.

Yes they do. Only thing is it is unpaid. And most teachers take classes during part of the summer so they can get a raise. I took my last class 4 years ago. So you basically do it most of your career. And you pay the tuition. In some States you are required to have a certain number of units every 5 years or you lose your credential. So it’s nice in some ways.

Yeah I was a teacher for 12 years in the states. In Texas at least "most" teachers were definitely not taking summer college courses. Just a few workshops for the most part. That fulfilled the 5 year continuing ed hours, no college necessary.

In California we had workshops, but you didn’t get salary credit if the District paid for it. So lots of college extension courses was the fastest way to get to the top of the salary schedule and get your 5 year renewal.
Now I am off for life. :) I just got my TB test notification. Someone forgot to tell them I retired.

Nice...makes me kind of sad tho, I just sold my kit due to prolonged lack of use. It's worth getting good cymbals since they seem to retain a good chunk of their value despite age.

Cheers. That Zildjian K-set has served me well for about 4 years now. Today I noticed the ride tends to turn one way on the stand, meaning there's some groove in the hole. Or that cymbal has more weight on one side, really dunno. Interesting stuff.

HD800 pads leak from all around one's face/head - isn't this an SQ factor? Also they sound way different pushed forward or back.

HD800 has been designed around a Nazi skull. So some people have massive leakage from back of the ears, like 1 cm openings. No wonder, they don't like em'.

I just slid them in normally into the small grooves. They're larger than OG pads, though. They're slightly loose fitting but they seem to work just fine. Some real finicky folks might feel the pads moving around even a little is a problem. I don't. The hp now sits firmly and softly on my head and sounds very close to same (and just as good) as before.
