The "boomer" comment is tongue in cheek, I love and get along with my parents. Just that they're a bit susceptible to claims e.g. "pure H20" or "heating honey maxes it toxic when consumed". I'm glad they asked for my opinion at least, haha.
To be honest, I haven't a clue why people online started making fun of boomers— it just happened overnight from what I can tell. Sure there are generational differences wrt stances on economics, environment, interpersonal relations (among loads of other things), but I actually do think the whole "ok, boomer" thing is trashy and furthers divide.
As for rebellious youth, I'm basically as spicy as white bread... for the most part. The most I act out is in my taste of music or film, haha. Well unless something really stupid happens that kicks my very opinionated moral compass awake, anyway.
The way I understand them, air purifiers do work (as do water filtration systems!), it's just that some unscrupulous entities charge high amounts and justify the added cost by tracking on random buzzwords. I'd actually say that air purifiers are a good investment if you have allergies and it's the proper season for em, but I opted out of a medical track into psych long ago so maybe ask someone more informed :))
Did a quick search just now, may be useful for single-room solutions but less so for whole dwellings, still need to make said room airtight.Portable room air conditioners also deemed pretty damn effective:
@Thad E Ginathom I have spent years geeking out over air purifiers because of where I live. I currently have 5 in active use, have retired another 5 (2 DIY). I have 2 particle counters to test with. Yeah, they work, but are dead simple machines, fans blowing air through paper filters. No need to go fancy, and don't fall for technobabble marketing.
Lol @Aelms, glad that's working out for you! And sorry to hear, @Cspirou. Can't always blame em though, it's scary easy to string people along with faux science and convince them the only true way is to pay through the nose.
"Ok, boomer." For all the ridiculing and sneering at generation X and Y the Marshall-plan funded wealth babies can expect some push-back in the form of mockery. We young ones grew accustomed to big data and information overload. Being informed has advantages, many advantages...
@Artasia Hong Kong. So if winds are from the north, we get air from the Guangdong factories. If winds are from the south, the air is beautiful. @Thad E Ginathom The 3M Filtrete stuff is great for house dust and maybe pollens, does nothing for PM25, which is the long term health damaging particle range. It's great for keeping the insides of computers clean too. I can post sensor screenshots if you'd like.
