Except for the "oh my f'ing god" at the beginning, Elon handled it with good humor and grace. Sucks that he had to continue the rest of the presentation with that broken glass on the truck though, oof
this thing is a shit show. $100 preorders to fluff investors. "look at that! only a hundy to preorder??? Even F150 owners want the Elon Musk sauce even if their credit rating is 349." Rumors of 3 months from clays to show are obvious, obviously.
"Elon, my lord and savoir, will it give me 10s quarter mile BJs?" "Yes, my lemming son, production model will give you 2-second 0-60 BJs, and HJs and toast, scrambled eggs, and coffee - in a bulletproof mug!"
He also said those windows were indestructible. I'll believe that mile rating when I see it. I don't own a Ford btw, just reusing your use of Ford. I believe the avg petrol powered vehicle will out last the avg electric vehicle assuming proper maintenance is done.
Also, assuming the Ford does start to rust, at least you will be able to easily buy replacement panels for it, unlike Tesla's which have notoriously bad parts support. People are waiting months to get fenders replaced on a Tesla. That's a joke in 2019.
Teslas will outlast most cars in the industry. An electric car requires far less maintenance and energy costs are far cheaper. They're a fairly new company, parts will be available soon enough, not that you'll need them nearly as much.
As for indestructible windows, at least the guy will likely go back to the drawing room because of it, unlike the millions of recalls for unsafe features we see every year on Ford Chevys etc. Electric cars are the future. Every manufacturer out there is making them. I drive a German supercharged V6 and get smoked by moms in Teslas going grocery shopping when the light turns green :)
so a 4WD cylontruck with (likely) 2x the lb/ft of TORKS can out pull a 2WD F150 w/Ecoboost. yawn. remind me, how many F150s has Ford sold in the amount of time since Elon broke some windows on a prototype and right now? 100? 1,000? Going on 2018 avg. sales numbers, Ford likely sold 7,500 F150s in the last 3 days. 150,000 pre-order of cylontruck? K, Ford is on pace to sell nearly 1M F150s in 2019.
Right. When was the last time you drove an F150? Look, I don't disagree that ICE is on it's way out. The problem I have with Musk and this half-assed truck is that it solves no real truck problems aside from being built on a skateboard (sort of - nobody has seen a production piece, who knows how it's gonna be built).
And it's utterly hideous in a way that no Kansas corn farmer with an F350 is going to consider it as a full on replacement for a work tool. Do you realize how focus-grouped-to-death the design of sheetmetal the big three's trucks are??
About 4 months ago when that's all the rental place had while my Audi was in for repairs. A Platinum F150 with all the bells and whistles. When's the last time you drove a decent car?
You say its a half assed truck and then proceed to contradict the statement by saying nobody knows how it's gonna be built. Nuff said.
What i meant by "how it's built" meant the architecture of the platform. The truck is not going to be a "bigger" version of the S platform. You should do some learnin' on how the car biz works.
Also, when was the last time you looked at the panel gaps on a Model 3? Audi would be utterly ashamed at the awful assembly quality. FFS, my MQB GTI is an order of magnitude better in panel fitment than a Model 3, AND ITS MADE IN f'ing MEXICO.
You don't know what the architecture of the platform is going to be yourself. Not sure why were even talking about panel gaps on model 3s at this point.
