Can you link to them and say something about sound changes vs stock HE-6SE pads? Thanks
Thick and cushy pads, while comfortable, can sometimes effect the sound in a negative way. Muffled/veiled, especially in the top end. In your case, this may actually help the HE-6, which is fairly bright when stock.

Good point, thin pads may be used to minimize pad impact on sound, I have moderate hearing loss at 8 khz. I am already missing the highs. I doubt these would reflect any sound at all, bass is still good because I still get the sound direct to my ears. My guess is there is less interplay with the pads.
Larger interiors help get more of the speaker exposed too. Just as resolving as either hifiman pad, Being slightly further from the driver with more driver exposed can't be bad, can it?
